Delegation led by NWAFU President Wu Pute Visited Kyrgyzstan

From September 21st to 22nd, at the invitation of Kyrgyzstan National Agricultural University and Kyrgyz Rural Pastoral Co., Ltd., NWAFU President Wu Pute and the delegation visited Kyrgyzstan. During their stay, the delegation visited the National Agricultural University of Kyrgyzstan and inspected the NWAFU Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration Park in the suburbs of Bishkek. In-depth consultations on relevant cooperation matters was conducted, and many agreements were achieved.

During the visit to the National Agricultural University of Kyrgyzstan, the NWAFU delegation attended the meeting organized bythe host, and exchanged ideas with Nurgaziev Rysbek, the head of the National Agricultural University of Kyrgyzstan, the three vice presidents and the heads of the other university departments.The topics covered the co-application of Confucius Institute, the construction of the Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration Park, co-application for joining the SCO University (modern agricultural direction), selecting international exchange students, and strengthening pragmatic cooperation in the disciplines of  horticulture, facility agriculture, wheat, and corn. Nurgaziev Rysbek said that China has made great achievements in the development of science and technology in the past 30 years . Agriculture is the fundamental industry for a nation’s economic and social development. Therefore, to strengthen cooperation with China’s agricultural institutions and actively introduce and promote the application of China’s advanced agricultural technology is of great significance to the food safety and livelihood improvement in Kyrgyzstan. NWAFU president Wu Pute said that the Northwest A&F University had always been playing a key role in the agricultural development in China’s arid and semi-arid regions. Most countries along the Silk Road are in arid and semi-arid zones, similar to the climatic conditions in northwestern China.

In order to strengthen cooperation in agriculture, science and education with the countries along the Silk Road Belt for the solution to global hunger, poverty, food safety and other issues, NWAFUcalled for the establishment of the Silk Road Agricultural Education Technology Innovation Alliance. Significant results have been achievedin student training, personnel training, scientific research, demonstration parks constructing and other aspects. Kyrgyzstan National Agricultural University is one of the first group of members of the Silk Road Agricultural Education Technology Innovation Alliance. In the future, the two sides are to carry out all-round cooperation in the alliance and to jointly promote the collaboration in agriculture and education.
