NWAFU’s Two National Innovation Alliances Approved by the NFGA

Recently, after the argumentation and evaluation by experts, NWAFU’s Pepper Industry National Innovation Alliance and Kiwifruit Industry National Innovation Alliance were approved by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration (NFGA).

Led by Prof. Wei Anzhi from College of Forestry, the Pepper Industry National Innovation Alliance was jointly established by more than 10 domestic units including Sichuan Agricultural University and Sichuan Forestry Science Research Institute. At present, China's pepper cultivation area is about 25 million mu, with an annual output of 350,000 tons, forming a large industry with an annual output value of more than 30 billion yuan, playing an important role in promoting targeted poverty alleviation and revitalizing the rural economy.

Led by Prof.Liu Zhande from College of Horticulture, the Kiwifruit Industry National Innovation Alliance was jointly established by more than 10 domestic units including Zhengzhou Fruit Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Sichuan Natural Resources Science Research Institute. In the center of China's largest kiwifruit production area, NWAFU has established the only professional kiwi research and development base in China that closely integrates production, teaching and research. It has achieved obvious results and technical advantages in kiwifruit

variety selection, artificial cultivation techniques, seedling cultivation, plant nutrition, pest control, storage and preservation, product processing, biotechnology and industrialization development, and other aspects, providing strong technical support for the great development of kiwifruit industry in Shaanxi and its surrounding areas.
