The National Key Research and Development Program "Northern Wheat Fertilizer and Pesticide Reduction Technology Integration Research and Demonstration” project startup meeting was held in NWAFU

On September 11, the National Key R&D Program "Northern Wheat Fertilizer and Pesticide Reduction Technology Integration Research and Demonstration” was launched in NWAFU. The implementation plan of the project shows that after two years of efforts, the fertilizer in the technology promotion demonstration zone will be reduced by 17% and the chemical pesticides will be reduced by 30%.

The main work objectives of the" Northern Wheat Fertilizer and Pesticide Reduction Technology Integration Research and Demonstration” program are to clarify the nutrient limit standards, pest control indicators and pesticide application limit standards for soil fertility and high yield of wheat in the northern wheat area, and establish quantitative reduction of wheat fertilizer and precise reduction of pesticides; clarify the fertilizer replacement potential and control methods of green manure, organic manure and returning straw, and determine the physical and biological control measures with strong pertinence, obvious effect and simple and easy implementation, and establish organic replacement of fertilizer and green substitute technology of pesticides; establish a comprehensive innovation model of cultivation technology with double reduction of fertilizers and pesticides and double yield increase of wheat for large-scale promotion and application according to the planting characteristics of different wheat areas.

The project was led by NWAFU and was jointly implemented by 28 units including the Gansu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Xinjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, with 12 companies participating. Wang Chaohui, NWAFU professor of College of Natural Resources and Environment, is the project leader. Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhang Fusuo, Chen Jianping, Wu Kongming, Kang Zhensheng, and related experts Xiao Shihe, Zhou Wei, Zheng Yongquan, Guo Tiancai, Tang Yonglu and Zhao Zhonghua are project consultants.
