On Spetember 23rd, NWAFU had this year’s must-see show--- Kunqu OperaThe Peony Pavallion performed by Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe.
As the tinkling of Chinese 7-Stringed zither perfectly blending with the lingering sound of bamboo flute, two beauties sailed onto the stage, singing " the mist at down and rain at dusk, the brower in the evening rays, the threads of clouds in the gales of wind, the painted boat and hazy sprays, all are foreign to secluded maids”. The audience were soon brought to the world of classic, being told the love story of Ms. Du Liniang and Mr. Liu Mengmei. The artists of Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troope integrated the poetic and pictorial splendor of stage art with modern aethetic appreciation, demonstrating the grace and charm of Kunqu opera. Mr. Li An and Mz. Wu Shuang, who are winners of highest theatrical award in China ,Plum Blossom Prize, along with Mz. Luo Chenxue gained a standing ovation of the teachers and students of NWAFU.
