On the morning of September 9th, Luo Yiwen, the Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, dean of NWAFU’s College of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, Professor of South China Agricultural University, gave 2015 postgraduate the report "How to Do Research”.
With reference of China’s current agricultural mechanization and latest domestic and foreign researches, Luo Xiwen mentioned nine aspects of research with prelude of five phrases – "Extensive learning, further questioning, careful thinking, clear discriminating, and sincerely practicing”.
1. Research topic should be new. "Use new approach to resolve both new and old issues”.
2. Research point should be precise. "Key point, difficult point, and innovation point” should be the three aspects to be noticed when we think. "Where are you at, where are you going to, how are you going there” are three questions to be clarified when do research.
3. Review literature . Books are beneficial. We need to read more books, especially good books, and we should know how to read.
4. Make proper plan. Plan is necessary. When doing research, we need to adjust our plan per the facts.
5. Approach is also important. We need to learn how to take shortcut.
6. Analyzation and summarization are important for experiment.
7. Learn to analyze. We should try to identify problem through analyzation, and then find out the research approach.
8. Learn to summarize. We should learn to observe in experiment, and to identify through analyzation, so as to improve ourselves by summarization.
9. Learn to behave. We should try to become a person who can think, read, practice, co-operate, and is of full characteristics.
Mr. Luo ended the report with a scenario of "farm cattle retire, iron cattle work, farmers work in town, experts work in field”, to express his vision of future agriculture mechanization,
