On August 9th to 14th, 2015 Professor Peng Changhui, one of the “Thousand Talents” and member of Ecological Forecast and Global Change Laboratory, was elected as the new president of Asia branch at the century ceremony of American Ecological Society in Baltimore, the United States.
Professor Peng came up with the main tasks of the next Asia Ecological Society Branch at his inaugural address: worldwide communication and cooperation should be strengthened with ecologists who devoted themselves to the development of Ecology in Asia. Research levels of Asian Ecology should be enhanced and education related to Ecology should be further developed.
With more than ten thousand of members, America Ecology Society was founded in 1915, and celebrated its 100th anniversary this year. On August 10th, American president Obama delivered a passionate and encouraging speech at its 100 anniversary ceremony.
