From August 24th to 25th, the 3rd China Postgraduate Robot Innovation Design Competition National Finals hosted by Huazhong University of Science and Technology was held online. The main format of the competition is online video display and PPT defense. Three teams from the College of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering and the College of Information Engineering of NWAFU won the national third prize. It is worth mentioning that this is the first time that our university has won the title of "Excellent Organization Award". The number of awards won by our university comes 12th among the national colleges and universities, ranking first among the agricultural and forestry colleges and universities.

The competition is divided into three groups: simulation group, component group and integration group based on the maturity and technical characteristics of creative works. In addition, it also includes a medical and health special group set up for major infectious diseases and people's health, which mainly involves navigation, inspection, bionics, picking, medical treatment, painting, precision micro-robot technology and its applications. A total of 762 teams from 167 training units participated in this competition. After fierce competition, 172 teams coming from 73 training units entered the finals including Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Wuhan University, etc. Among them, the works that our university entered the finals and won the prizes are the "traditional old orchard crawler spray robot" directed by Professor Yang Fuzeng of the College of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, and the "Kiwifruit non-destructive picking robot based on binocular vision and parallel manipulators", guided by Associate Professor Shi Huixi of the College of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering. At the same time, there is also the "Ink-and-wash style robotic arm drawing system based on hand-drawn handwriting" under the guidance of Associate Professor Hu Shaojun of the College of Information Engineering.
