The First International Forum on Soil, Fertilizer, Crop & Environment Successfully Held

On December 9th and 10th, the First International Forum on Soil, Fertilizer, Crop & Environment co-hosted by NWAFU, Nanjing Agricultural University and Huazhong Agricultural University was held at NWAFU. In accordance with our national policies of anti-pandemic, the event was conducted by means of “online + offline”, with two sub-forum at Nanjing Agricultural University and Huazhong Agricultural University. More than 500 teachers and students attended this event.

This forum consists of Keynote Speeches and Youth Scholars’ Session. Dr.Jianguo Liu from Michigan State University (USA), Dr. Xueming Yang from Harrow Research Center of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Mr. Jianfeng Ma from Okayama University, Dr. Petra Marschner from The University of Adelaide (Australia), Dr. Hailin Zhang from Oklahoma State University (USA), Dr. Ismail Cakmak from Sabanci University (Austria), Dr. Paolo Nannipieri from Università degli Studi di Firenze (Italy), Dr. Philip John White from King Saud University, Professor Shen Qirong from Nanjing Agriculture University, and Professor Chen Xinping from Southwest University gave keynote speeches. The topics covered the management of soil and plant nutrient, green development of agriculture, coupling and application of big data, agricultural development and human health, accumulation of zinc and cadmium, fully integrating the researches in soil, fertilizer, crop and environment, demonstrating the latest technological development and industry focus.

At the session of Youth Scholars’ Session, 26 young scholars shared their research findings, who are from Zhejiang University, Institute of Microbiology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Southwest University, Nanjing Agricultural University, Huazhong Agricultural University, Shandong Agricultural University, Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University, Fujian Normal University, Hebei Agricultural University, Jilin Agricultural University, Ningxia University, Shihezi University and NWAFU. Their topics mainly focused on soil microorganisms, crop photosynthetic physiology, gene regulation, optimization of fertilizer management, etc. The crops as research objects are wheat, corn, rice, rape, and citrus. Young teachers from College of Natural Resources and Environment, NWAFU, Jiao Shuo, Liu Jinshan, Zheng Wei, Shi Mei, Zhang Dabin, Zhao Hubing, and Li Ziyan attended the event as Youth Scholar Session’s speakers.
