Positions Held:
· Professor of Mathematics, College of Sciences, Northwest A&F University
· Associate Dean of College of Sciences, Northwest A&F University
Education Background
· Jan.2009-Aug.2012, was a PhD student in school of computing, Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland. Research project is Bayesian network structure learning from data, and has been awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
· 2000-2004, was a postgraduate student in applied mathematics department, Northwest Agricultural and Forest (A&F) University, YangLing, China, and finished with a MSc. degree in Applied mathematics.
· 1990-1994, studied basic mathematics as a major during my undergraduate studies in Mathematics Department of Northwest University, Xi’an, China.
Research Interests
· My research focus on using naturally-inspired metaheuristics (Evolutionary Algorithms, Ant Colony Optimization) on solving real-world optimization problems. When I was a PhD research student, I worked on using ACO for Probabilistic Modelling (Bayesian Network structure learning). Earlier in my career, I worked on applying Markov Network EDA to search for optimal dosing regimens for the bio-control of sciarid fly infestation in mushroom farming. I also studied using Genetic Algorithm on pipe network optimization in agriculture during my Master degree research.
· Currently, I am working on mathematical analysis and data mining to rural finance in western China. This is a primary experimental study for rural financial mortgage policy.
Work Experience
· Nov.2006-Nov.2007, as a part of the computational intelligence group in the school of computing, Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland. Project is using evolutionary algorithms (Markov Network EDA) to search for optimal dosing regimes for the bio-control of sciarid fly infestation in mushroom farming.
· 1999-2006, lectured in applied mathematics department, Northwest A&F University, China. Teaching subjects are Ordinary Differential Equation(s), Probability Theorem and Applied Mathematical Statistics. Research fields are mathematical model, data analysis and evolutionary algorithms in optimization.
· 1994-1999, worked as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Applied Mathematics, Northwest Agricultural University, YangLing, China.
Awards
· Overseas research funding from China Scholarship Council, 2006-2007.
· Scottish Informatics and Computer Science Alliance (SICSA) studentship for three years PhD research in Robert Gordon University, 2009-2012.
