1. Profile
Dr. Jin Shuan Fan, born in 1958, is Professor and PhD supervisor of Non Wood Forest and Wildlife Conservation and Utilization of Forestry at Northeast A&F University.
He is also committee of National Institute of Higher Education Guidance Committee for the Wildlife Conservation and Recreation, and member of the Group of Experts of the National Mining Reclamation.
He was the Vice Chairman of the Fifth and Sixth Non wood Forest Society of the Chinese Society of Forestry.
He is the distinguished expert of Shaanxi Agricultural Expert Service Group, and member of editorial board of “Economic Forest Research”, “Journal of Northwest Forestry College” and “Shaanxi Forestry Science and Technology”.
He is the online evaluated expert of National Natural Science Foundation of Chinese Projects and National PhD Discipline Fund Projects and Natural Science Foundation of Shaanxi provincial Projects.
Also, he is the online evaluated expert of the National Top-quality Course of Forest Resource and the National Science and Technology Progress Award Projects of Ministry of Education of the P.R.C.

4. Research Field and Teaching Experience
Dr. Jin Shuan Fan works on teaching and scientific research in Non Wood Forest and Wild Plant Resources Exploitation for long term, and lately focuses on Non Wood Forest Resource Cultivation, Products Storage and Processing, Forestry Ecology Environment Project, the Conservation and Utilization of Wildlife and so on.
Main research contents:
1. Highly effective and fine quality new variety of non wood forest selective breeding and industrial production technology in Loess Plateau.
2. Distinctive non wood forest products storage and processing technology.
3. Wildlife and habitat protection and utilization.
4. Forestry's ecological recovery technique in Industrial-mining discarded places and new developing energy chemical base of environmental pollution.
4.1 Scientific Research:
Dr. Jin Shuan Fan had successively presided over and finished one national fund project of natural science, one national scientific and technical key project, one Sino-America fund project of scientific and technological cooperation, and five projects of plan of science and technology of Shaanxi Province.
Main undertaken and finished scientific research projects:
1. Research on relation between Fir essential oil components, quality, content and ecological factor and cultivation technique (The national fund project of natural science).
2. Research on the non wood forest high-yield plant techniques of collect current and save water in Loess plateau (the Ninth Five-Year Plan Key scientific and technological development plan project).
3. Research on the best mode of the development for the giant panda habitat and protective zone in Qin Ling Mountains (Sino-America fund projects of international cooperation).
4. Research on development and utilization of fir essential oil from Abies Fargesii Franch (The natural science fund project in Shaanxi Province).
5. Development of series products on fir essential oil in Abies Fargesii Franch (The key scientific and technological development plan project in Shaanxi Province).
6. Plateau non wood forest high quality variety breeding and industry research (The scientific and technological development plan project in Shaanxi Province)
7. Research on planting technique of the artificial vegetation in coal wasting lands (The scientific and technological development plan project in Shaanxi Province).
8. Research on protection, development and utilization of nonwood forest resources in Southern Shaanxi (The scientific and technological development plan project in Shaanxi Province).

5. Main Achievements
1. Presided over the project "the Non wood Forest High Yield Plant Technique of Collect Current and Save Water in Loess Plateau ", this is one of the “Ninth Five-Year Plan” National Key Scientific and Technological Projects. This project is a major scientific research achievement, which has been accepted by the State Forestry Administration and Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2000.
2. Presided over the project "Research on Development and Utilization of Essential Oil in Abies fargesii Franch ", which in 1997, won the First Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress Award for Yang Ling Agricultural High-tech Industries Demonstration District, and in 1998, won the Third Prize of the State Forestry Administration on Scientific and Technological Progress Award.
3. Presided over the project "A Series of Product Development of Essential Oil in Abies fargesii Franch ", which won the Third Prize of Outstanding Works of Shaanxi Province in the Fourth Scientific and Technological Achievements in Light Industry in 1999.
4. Presided over the project "Walnut High Yield and Quality Matching Technology", which had obtained the First Prize of the Shaanxi Provincial Forestry Department for Scientific and Technological Progress in May 2010.
5. Presided over the project "A fine propagation method of walnut," which obtained the invention patent in 2007.
6. Participated the project "Development and Utilization of Acer Truncatum Maple", which has obtained the First Prize of the Shaanxi Provincial Forestry Department for Scientific and Technological Progress Award in May 1996, and the Second Prize of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government on Scientific and Technological Progress Award in May 1997. 7. Participated the project "Research of High-yield Plant Techniques and Industrialization of Maple in Arid Areas ", which is one of the "Ninth Five-Year Plan" national key scientific and technological projects, as a major scientific research achievement, which has been accepted by the State Forestry Administration and Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2000 (No.4).
8. Participated the project "the Development of Multi-humic Acid Compound Fertilizer and Highly Active Anti-drought Nutrients" which has obtained the First Prize of Yang Ling Demonstration Zone for Scientific and Technological Progress Award in 2003 (No. 2).
9. Participated the project "the Venture Capital System and Operation Mechanism in Yang Ling Agricultural High-tech Industries Demonstration District", which has obtained the Third Prize for Science and Technological Progress of Shanxi Province Education Department in 2005 (No. 2)
 

6. Publications
Dr. Jin Shuan Fan has published 126 theses, including 97 theses as the first author and communication author, 86 national key periodical theses, and 1 recorded by SCI. He has edited 3 works and joined in 2 works.
