Zhang Wenhui, male, born in December 1954 in Qishan County, Shaanxi province,China. Professor and Ph. D. Supervisor for Botany and Silvics in Forestry College, Northwest A&F University. Director of the Northwest Forestry Research Center; Deputy-director of Key West Environment and Ecology Lab of Education Ministry in China.Member of the Chinese Forestry Biodiversity Safety Council of the State Forestry Administration in China.Member of Censor Council of Chinese Forestry New Breed of the State Forestry Administration in China. ,
1. Education Background
Got B•S of forestry in 1981, and M.S of forest botany in1985 from the Northwest College of Forestry, China.
Got Ph. D of forestry botanic in 1995 in the Northeast Forestry University, China.
Experienced the post-Ph.D of botany during 1995-1997 in Botany Department of Botany, University of Federal Sao Carols, Brazil.
Experienced the Visiting Senior Scholar in Swedish Agricultural Science in 2003-2004 Sweden.
2.Teaching Course for Undergraduate and Postgraduate
Plant Taxonomy; Plant Ecology; Ornamental Plant; plant resource; Biology Conservation, and Ntural Forest Conservationan and Management. He is also supervisor for 13 post-graduates and 6 doctor candidates. He gained teaching achievement second prize of Shaanxi Province in 2002.
3. Research Fields
Natural Forest Conservation; Plant Population Ecology; Forest Biodiversity Conservation.
From 1985 to now, He has been in charged of more than 30 projects supported by the Nature Science Foundation of China, the Science and Technological Ministry, the State Forestry Administration of China, Chinese Academy, which included “the vegetation restoration mechanism in Loss Plateau”, “oak plant population ecology and secondary forest management” “endangeren plant conservation biology”, “drought resistance of tree and shrubs” etc. He has published 140 papers on this fields in home-abroad periodicals, such as, Acta Botanica Sinica, Acta Phytoecologica Sinica, Chinese Biodiversity, Conservation Biology,Journal of Forestry Research, etc; he published 2 research monographs such as Population Ecology Research of Adenophora lobophlla; and find 8 plant new taxa. He gained the second prize of science and technology of Shaanxi provine in 2008.
4. The Projects
1) Population dynamics and reproduction biology of Quercus variabilis supported by National Nature Foundation of China. Focus on: exploring the sexual reproduction and asexual propagation mechanism and know how to make the natural forest or population restoration.
2) Vegetation landscapes patch pattern and dynamic in the small valley in Loess Plateau supported by the Chinese Academy. The main aims are to explore the relation between vegetation landscape patch pattern and plant community’s stability; the main functions of dominated plant populations and their maintaining mechanisms in the small valley ecological safety; the succession’s rule of plant communities, and know how to promotes the restoration of plant communities of natural plant communities in Loess Plateau.
3) Plant community sustaining development mechanism of plant communities in Loess Plateau supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology in China . The project focus on: ① Reproduction and asexual propagate of the dominate populations with the stability of community, to know the population how to maintain population sustaining in the semidry habitat. ② The water utilization diversity of plant dominate populations with the sustaining development in typical communities, including to measure their respiration, transpiration, water potential, predawn water potential, water use efficiency etc. to know the plant populations how to survivor in the different semi-dry habitat in loess Plateau. ③ The light utilization diversity of the plant dominate populations with the sustaining development in typical communities, including measure their net photosynthesis, stoma conductance, plant individual growth indices etc. to know the plant populations how to the develop and maintain he sustaining development in the semi-dry habitats.
4) Technology extension and the Oak secondary improvement by the cose to natural forest management in Shaanxi province supported by the State Forestry Administration of China: focus on: ①Making secondary forest management plan (FMP) of close to natural forest management; ②make up forest management model for multiple-use natural forest management; training native farmer for close to natural forest management (NFM) and multiple-use natural forest management.
