About the Speaker:
Dr. Changying Li is a Professor at the College of Engineering of the University of Georgia (UGA), USA. His main research interests are in sensing, high throughput plant phenotyping, and agricultural robotics.
He received his Ph.D. in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in 2006. He received "Gary A. Herzog Award of Excellence for Junior Research Scientist” from University of Georgia and "Early Career Award” from AOC (Association of Overseas Chinese Agricultural, Biological, and Food Engineers), both in 2011.He served as the President of Association of Overseas Chinese Agricultural, Biological, and Food Engineers from 2014-2015.He is the recipient of the "New Holland Young Researcher Award” of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) in 2016. He currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Information Technology Sensors and Controls Division of the ASABE. He is Associate Editor or the Editorial Board member of four international journals. He has been reviewer of proposals for USDA NIFA and National Science Foundation in the United States, as well as for other funding agencies in New Zealand, Israel, Austria, and China. He has won research grant of more than three million dollars as Principal Investigator and published more than 120 papers in peer reviewed journals and proceedings. In the past five years, the graduate students he mentored have won 17major awards either at the university level or national level. He is currently leading the Agricultural Sensing and Robotics Initiative, as well as the visioning processing of the Secure Resilient Sustainable Systems (SRSS) research cluster, both in the College of Engineering.
