Title:Improvement of drought stress tolerance and seed storage of maize by manipulation of raffinose family oligosaccharides
Time: 4pm, November 18, 2016
Venue: S3119
Introduction of Speaker:
Dr. Tianyong Zhao, Professor, received his B.S. degree in Horticulture from Hebei Agricultural University and his Ph.D. degree in Crop Genetics and Breeding from China Agricultural University in Beijing, China. Dr. Zhao joined the college of Life Sciences at Northwest A&F University in 2011. Dr. Zhao’s research interests focus on the investigation of the function and regulatory mechanism of maize galactinol synthase (ZmGOLS), raffinose synthase (ZmRAFS) and alkaline galactosidase genes (ZmAGA) in raffinose metabolism pathway. His research goal is to determine if it is practical to improve maize stress tolerance and seed vigor through regulation of raffinose metabolism pathway.
