Title:Marek’s disease- Sustaining an effective vaccination strategy
Speaker: Dr. Venugopal Nair
Time: 10:30 pm March29, 2016
Venue: E420,College of Life Sciences,North Campus of NWAFU
Introduction of speaker:
Venugopal Nair is the Head of the Avian Viral Diseases Programme at the Pirbright Institute. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Tamilnadu University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, India. After 6 years postdoctoral research initially at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and later at the Institute of Virology, Oxford, he joined the Pirbright Institute to carry out research on avian oncogenic viruses. His group has carried out extensive research into the molecular mechanisms of virus-induced cancers to gain insights into the viral gene functions and their interactions with the host cell in driving neoplastic transformation. The analysis of the dynamic changes of the epigenomes, non-coding RNAs, transcriptomes and the proteomes of virus-induced cancer cells has helped to develop an integrated profile of the molecular events in neoplastic transformation. His research interests on viral diversity and evolution of virulence has demonstrated the potential role of vaccines in driving virulence.
