College of Life Sciences

  Established in 2000, the College of Life Sciences in Northwest A&F University nowhas 148 faculty and staffmembers including 37 professors, 59 associate professors, 1Thousand Talents Plan Expert, 1Yangtze River Scholar Distinguished Professor, 2winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 1 Youth Thousand Talents Program Expert, 7 experts involved in the Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University, 3 distinguished professors and 5 selected candidates of 100-Talents Program in Shaanxi province.

  In September 2009,the first level discipline doctoral program of Microbiology was approved.Up to now the College of Life Sciences has 6 second level disciplines authorized to offer doctorate or master degree to international students in Phytology, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Genetics, Cell Biology and Bioinformatics. The first-level discipline Biology in our department ranked 16th among the 100 universities over the country during the third National Evaluation of Disciplines in 2002.In the result of the fourth National Evaluation of Disciplines among 161 universities published in December 2017, the first level discipline Biology in our college was evaluated as B+. In the past five years, postgraduate students in our college have won countless awards. Among the various rewards and prizes, there were 6 excellent doctor degree dissertations in Shaanxi province, 1China Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award and 2Baogang Education Awards for Excellent Students.
