College of Science was founded on December 30, 2016, and its history can be traced back to the teaching group of mathematics, physics and agrometeorology of the National Northwest Agriculture and Forestry College which was founded in 1934. College of Science began to recruit graduate students in 2000 and undergraduate students in 2001.
There are 136 faculty members in the College, including 116 full-time teachers, 11 with senior titles and 45 with deputy senior titles; There are 71 people with doctor's degree, and more than 93% of the faculty members have master's degree. There are 5 doctoral supervisors and 26 master supervisors. Among the faculty members, 1 has won Bao Steel Outstanding Teacher Award, 2 has won Provincial Distinguished Teacher Award, 2 have won the “ Gold medal Teacher Award of the first session, 1 has won the Teaching Rookie Award, and 7 have won the first prize in the Young Teachers' Lecture Competition.
The college adheres to the fundamental task of building morality and cultivating talents. It now has two undergraduate programs of information and computing science, optoelectronic information science and engineering, and preparatory program for ethnic minorities. It has authorized doctoral degrees in secondary disciplines of Biophysics and master's degrees in primary disciplines of mathematics. Now, the college has a regular recruitment number of 500 students, with 1 provincial teaching team and 1 provincial experimental teaching demonstration center. The college undertakes the teaching of basic mathematics and other science courses for 74 undergraduate programs within 21 colleges, and has won 8 teaching achievement awards of provincial and levels. The faculty members of the college have published more than 20 textbooks and more than 10 textbooks have been awarded. The College has won more than 100 awards in national mathematics competition.
The college adheres to the development concept of paying equal attention to teaching and scientific research, and carries out research in biological mathematics, biophysics, data science, intelligent computing, photoelectric technology and functional materials. In recent years, it has undertaken more than 160 research projects at national, provincial and ministerial level and key commercial research projects, with a total scientific research fund of more than 15 million yuan, and published more than 500 high-level academic papers.
The college attaches great importance to international cooperation and exchange. It has established stable international cooperation relations with many universities or companies in the United States, Japan, Canada and Australia. It has selected more than 30 graduates and more than 20 backbone teachers to go abroad for further studies or degrees, which has greatly improved the strength and level of the college.
