Celebrating 105th Anniversary of Prof. Zhou Yao’s Birth and His Statue Unveiling

On the afternoon of April 28th, Insect Museum at NWAFU Exposition Park celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Prof. Zhou Yao’s Birth and unveiled his bronze statue.

Prof. Zhou Yao is a leading authority in insect classification research in the world and an academician of International Academy of Science at the Republic of San Marino. He started working in NWAFU since 1939 and successively held the posts of professor, director of insect institute, director of insect museum, and the concurrent post of director of Entomological Society of China. His establishments of insect museum, insect classification academic journal, Zhou Yao’s encouragement foundation for insect classification research, and the butterfly branch of Entomological Society of China have increased NWAFU’s reputation across the country, and have been of great contribution to the disciplinary development of NWAFU’s entomology and plant protection.
