The paper revealed the function of glioblastoma stem cell and one critical path in tumor neovascularization, invasiveness, and therapeutic resistance, paving the way for new treatments. After its publication, the paper has received wide attention from media at home and abroad, including a special report from the American Cancer Society's top journal Cancer Discovery. (http://cancerdiscovery.aacrjournals.org/content/early/2016/12/01/2159-8290.CD-RW2016-222), and 30 more websites reprinted reports. Meanwhile, the first domestic life sciences website —ebiotrade.com also made a special report and connected the author to answer readers’ questions. (http://www.ebiotrade.com/newsf/2016-11/20161121165827681.htm; http://www.ebiotrade.com/newsf/2016-12/2016128142711131.htm)

Glioblastoma multiforme(GBM) is the highly lethal and the most common malignant tumor in brain cancer, with the average life expectancy of patients up to only 14 months after discovering the disease, and only 5% of the patients live longer than 5 years. Despite aggressive multi-modality treatment of maximal surgical resection, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy, poor prognosis still results in the near universal recurrence of tumors.
