II. Research Interests
Our research projects mainly focus on  the genetics and improvement of drought tolerance in cereal crops.
In particular, we investigate cuticular waxes, which coat most above-ground plant surface. We clone and analyze the functions of genes involved in the waxes formation. We investigate wax functions such as their central physiological role to seal the plant surface against water loss and adverse stress conditions. We also have some QTL mapping projects and plant transformation projects to dissect the molecular mechanism of important traits in wheat and other crops.
